11.5Base registration fee

The annual registration fee shall be eleven dollars and fifty cents ($11.50) for motor vehicles, including pickup trucks and passenger vans (KRS 186.050).1

How the fee is figured
Flat annual fee for noncommercial motor vehicles. Vehicles over 10,000 pounds declared gross weight are commercial.1
Title fee
Each application for a certificate of title is $9 (KRS 186A.130, effective July 15, 2026, until January 1, 2027).2
Electric vehicle fee
County clerks collect the electric vehicle ownership fee set in KRS 138.475. Its amount is not stated in KRS 186.050.1
Renewal period
Annual.1
